Dr. E. Shares Her Ahwatukee Favorites

1) How long have you been practicing dentistry?
Dr. E: I have been in practice for 30 years!
2) When did you set up Ahwatukee roots?
Dr. E: I recently opened my solo practice, Dr. E Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, two years ago. Previous to that, I was employed by or partnered with a large dental group. The first fourteen years were with a large group in Northern Illinois. The following twelve years, I was partnered with a different group here in Phoenix. Then, I spent two years working part time in Mesa, while planning my return to the Ahwatukee area. Currently, and for the past two years, I have started new again, owning my own dental practice here in our awesome community.
3) Do you prefer having a solo, “neighborhood” practice?
Dr. E: Though I always enjoyed working within a group, I truly appreciate the benefits of solo practice. It’s nice to have the final say in all decisions made! And, I thought I would miss working with my fellow dentists, but have found I have even better relationships with my colleagues from other offices who also own their own practices. My team seems happier too, because they don’t have multiple bosses and styles to deal with.
4) Tell us a bit about your Ahwatukee practice and team.
Dr. E: My office has experienced and well trained personnel from front to back who enjoy their work. We are small, knowledgeable, and confident, taking care of patients as to their individual needs and wants. We allow time to get the job done, and also try to truly get to know each patient. Our office is calm, friendly, and comfortable. And those who work here are kind and compassionate.

6) What do you appreciate about being an Ahwatukee resident?
Dr. E: I love Ahwatukee! It’s the suburban feel I was used to in Illinois, but with more beautiful blue skies and surrounding mountain views. The people are kind and friendly. And anything you may need in the way of shopping, restaurants, or movies is just a few miles away. The neighborhoods in Ahwatukee are beautiful. Families here have multiple nice choices on where to live. I feel fortunate I get to raise my family within the same community where I work. Soon after I moved here, I encouraged a sister of mine to relocate from Chicago. She loves it, too!
7) Can you share some of your favorite local spots?
Dr. E: One of my favorite places to go in Ahwatukee is Desert Foothills Park. It’s close to home and my husband and I enjoy walking the dogs, while my boys ride bikes or play basketball. The annual Festival of Lights event takes place here too, where activities for all ages make it fun for all. My family enjoys an occasional movie as well and having the AMC theater so close is very nice. When we want to go out for a bite to eat, we have always enjoyed Keegans and Florencia. Just recently, there are new favorites in town, Frank & Lupes Mexican and Buddyz Pizza. There are multiple places to work out in Ahwatukee, too. My new favorite is A+ Fitness and Wellness. The mom and daughter team teach many great fitness and yoga classes. I like their common sense approach, witty personalities, and ability to customize the workout for me.
