Smile! Summertime is Here!

Are you ready for summer? June 20, 2020 marks its official start! After months of social isolation, it’s only natural to have the summer travel itch. And, although it may not exactly be a typical summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun and make lasting memories. Yes, this even includes summer travel in and around Arizona! To help ensure that our patients have a safe AND super summer, we have compiled this roundup of summer travel predictions and recommendations from leading experts during the pandemic. Read on…

Are we there yet? With flights being canceled and a general reluctance for air travel, travel experts predict the resurgence of the good old family road trip. Leisurely regional car rides to visit family and friends offer a safe alternative for a change of scenery and a chance to bond with others.  Many of Dr. E’s patients report they are planning to travel to local destinations such as Flagstaff, Sedona and Payson and some are road-tripping to nearby states such as California and Colorado, where they are visiting loved ones or booking vacation rentals through popular sites such as VRBO and Airbnb.

Enjoy the great outdoors. The National Park Service reports that it is planning for an unprecedented influx of visitors this summer.  Families should be aware that services may be limited at specific parks as officials are following ever-changing guidelines and implementing required safety measures.  Our great state of AZ offers an abundance of opportunities for nature lovers – from Fool Hollow Lake to Red Rock State Park and so much more, giving families a chance to enjoy nature while minimizing their health risks. Take a staycation. Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of low rates at our Valley’s beautiful and fun-filled resorts.  Many hotel/spa rates are slashed in half during the hot, summer months but families can still take advantage of all of their awesome amenities (think pools and waterslides!) and terrific packages like these: https://azbigmedia.com/lifestyle/here-are-12-great-staycation-deals-for-2020/

Enjoy some “cool” local culture. Keep busy, stay cool and even learn something new by visiting one of our state’s many museums. From the Heard Museum, to the Musical Instrument Museum, to the Arizona Science Center, our state offers an abundance of air-conditioned options where you can spend the day exploring and learning. Just be sure to go online or call before you go to confirm COVID hours of operation and to understand specific mask or social distancing requirements. Keep your smile “safe,” too! Whether your summer plans keep you close to home or many miles away, the Dr. E Cosmetic & Family Dentistry team wants to remind you to always keep dental health a priority!  Don’t be tempted to take a break from your oral hygiene routine during summer travel. As temperatures heat up, keep in mind that COVID-19 doesn’t need to stand in the way of you and your family making lasting summer memories.  This summer, Dr. E urges you to be careful, stay safe, and have FUN … and be sure to call our office to schedule your summer and fall dental exams… we’re open and here to serve you!
