Gratitude and Healthy Smiles
Happy Thanksgiving From Dr. E
Thanksgiving presents an opportunity for our team to thank YOU for trusting us to care for your smile. It’s also an opportune time to express thanks for the gift of good oral health. Not only do healthy smiles reflect good dental health, your overall health and well-being are enhanced.
With this in mind, we’re sharing tips to help you keep healthy oral habits top-of-mind during Thanksgiving and beyond for healthy smiles.
Chew thoughtfully and properly. Chewing your food mindfully ensures good digestion, helps your body absorb nutrients, and aids digestion. From an oral health standpoint, proper chewing increases saliva production, which helps rinse potentially harmful food bacteria and particles from your teeth. As you polish off your Thanksgiving pie, savor the flavor—but remember to thoroughly brush and floss!
Give love to your toothbrush. Your toothbrush is one of your most essential oral health tools for healthy smiles. Give it the attention and care it deserves to keep your smile white and bright. Remember, a healthy smile starts with good brushing habits and not all toothbrushes are created equally. Look for soft bristles, a good surface area, and a great grip. Electric toothbrushes deserve some extra thanks—they do a lot of the heavy lifting (aka, brushing) for you!
Brush strategically. Would it surprise you to hear that your dentist recommends waiting to brush your teeth 30 minutes AFTER eating sweet holiday treats? That’s because many desserts leave acids behind on tooth enamel. Brushing immediately afterwards can actually damage the enamel but waiting to brush allows the tooth enamel to build itself back up.
Prioritize oral health. As we get ready to enter the busy holiday season, we encourage everyone to commit to maintaining good oral habits. Regular dental check-ups and daily brushing and flossing are simple yet vital ways to keep your oral health on track. Remember, Dr. E specializes in helping patients achieve their best smiles—don’t hesitate to stop in for a free smile-makeover consultation!
As your local dentist, I’m honored to have earned the distinction of being named Ahwatukee’s best dentist for the past 5 years! Our entire team is also grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and contribute to the oral health of each patient. Thank you for trusting us with your healthy smiles!
The Dr. E Cosmetic and Family Dentistry team wishes you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with joy, gratitude, and, of course, healthy smiles. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 480-494-2435
