Ask Dr. E if dental implants are right for you.
If you are self-conscious due to missing teeth, uncomfortable dentures or want to avoid removal of good tooth structure to make a bridge, dental implants may be a good option for you. Dental implants are long-term replacements that a surgeon places in the bone and Dr. E restores.
A dental implant is composed of titanium metal and other material that are compatible with the human body. They are posts that are surgically implanted in your jaw where they will “fuse” with your bone and establish a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. The tooth portion is made up of porcelain or pressed-zirconium, giving a very natural appearance. Because of the nature of the replacement, implants are extremely stable and cannot decay.
The process typically includes three phases:
First, the dentist surgically places the implant into the jawbone.
Next, the bone around the implant heals in a process called osseointegration, meaning “combines with the bone.” Because the bone literally grows around the implant during osseointegration, the implant is very strong and stable. This process varies from patient to patient and can take up to several months or as little as the same day for the replacement teeth to be attached to the implant.
Finally the artificial tooth/teeth will be placed. Whether you have a single tooth implant or several teeth at one time, Dr. E will create the right replacement for you. If necessary, a temporary crown or bridge will be provided while your custom-made implants are being made.
Our patients can be confident that their missing teeth will be replaced with natural-looking dental implants. Our office works closely with both oral surgeons and periodontists to create the best possible treatment outcome.
